This handy booklet tells of the early history of Calstock and of its industries. This quiet little place was once a hive of activity with a thriving port exporting and importing goods and bringing tourists up river from Plymouth on the many paddle steamers. Even today there are river trips from Plymouth. In its heyday, the town, for it is called Calstock Town, boasted local mines, brickworks and numerous market gardens.
