The Archive Trust - The People Who Make It Happen
The Calstock Parish Archive Trust is a charitable organisation run by local volunteers. We are run by a management committee - the members of the Trust oversee the organisation and the running of the group and ensure the funding is channelled correctly. We rely on income from publications and charitable donations to keep the Archive open and accessible to the public. We also rely on grants and funding from various sources to help us in our projects.
Lynda Harman - Management Committee Chair
Lynda has been involved in the Parsh Archive for over ten years and has been a driving force in the running of the archive.
Vic Harman - Treasurer
Vic has also been involved for many years and takes pride in looking after the precious funds of the Trust.
Nikki Chaplin - Project Manager
Nikki is in charge of the Family Tree Project and The GIS project
Christine Hart - Schools Liaison
A retired school teacher, Christine is in charge of liaising with local schools, she is also involved in the family tree project.
Lorna Potter - Oral History Project
Lorna devotes a good deal of her time to interviewing people for the oral history project
Helen Hayward - Trustee
Helen is also the Membership Secretary of the Calstock History Group
Volunteers
Not on the committee but equally important are the many volunteers from the Parish who give up their free time to work in the Archives cataloguing and researching. Anyone can volunteer and we are always welcome people from the community who may have a few hours to spare and are interested in the local history of the area.
We are, at present cataloguing all the Archive material, which is still being actively collected and storing them in appropriate boxes, folders etc. As the years have gone by, we find we have fewer and fewer volunteers, whilst the workload remains undiminished. If you live locally, perhaps you could spare a few hours to help with this interesting and important work.
Over the years the Archive has been consulted widely and its true value has only latterly been recognised. The archive is also reaching out to the local schools in the parish and indeed to some Plymouth schools.
If you think that you can help us in some way, please do get in touch with us .
