This book, which is the first of a series, was published in January 2009. The book is A4 size, 72 pages and is illustrated by over 70 black and white images taken from the archive photographic collection.
As you read the words of the contributors the River Tamar is brought to life and you can become part of the happenings they describe. From catching so many fish they were too heavy to land, hiding from the bailiffs, drinking all the profits in the Calstock public houses whilst waiting for the next tide, to leisure fishing where fish are returned to conserve numbers. One man, Gerald Wakem, even describes innocent participation in poaching with dynamite in his youth. Regattas, escapades, Sunday School outings all personal memories of the people of Calstock Parish. The words are taken from interviews recorded over the last twenty years with local folk and stored at Calstock Parish Archive.
Cost: £10.00 + £1.50 P&P
